DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?

By now we are pretty sure there is not really such a thing , but by the end of our meeting with speaker Judy Michels, Certified Bowen Therapist, we were all doubting our convictions! Judy admits that it is difficult to describe the Bowen Therapy she performs. The Bowen Technique uses a series of simple, gentle moves across muscle and connective tissue. Because it works in harmony with the body, the Bowen Technique is incredibly effective for any muscular, skeletal, or nerve imbalance. It has also been successful in treating chronic pain due to injury.

Robyn had an injured shoulder and could only raise her arm half way up so Judy performed some gentle muscle manipulation on her arm for a few minutes and had Robyn raise her arm again. She was so amazed when her arm raised all the way up. Being the skeptics that we are, someone suggested that she try the technique on Jeanne who has been dealing with a shoulder injury for quite some time. She did and once again she was able to raise her arm up all the way. Well, needless to say, we were all abuzz over what we had just seen. Judy said she would come from Yreka to Redding if we had enough people interested in pursuing this. Almost everyone signed up so we can expect to be hearing from her soon. Her one hour treatments cost $35 so once again we have something hopeful to pursue towards our wellness goal!

As a follow up, four days later, Jeanne says her shoulder returned to her previous state before she even got home, whereas Robyn is still radiant about the treatment and holding just fine. Now I think that many of us still want to try it in hopes of regaining some lost function in our bodies. We will let you know when Judy is coming and again after we have some testimonials. Her number is 530-604-6300

Marge Wheeler, RN talked to us about her science based Orenda supplements aimed at providing restorative health to our cells. This diversion from her traditional treatments with medicine has her very enthusiastic about healing the body by removing toxins & replacing good basic building blocks. This provided us with much food for thought.

Our Family & Friend’s event on March 22nd turned out to be a great success for our first community program! Neurologist, Dr. John Schafer gave a very good talk and answered many questions from the group. He has treated over 500 MS patients which gives him pretty good insight into what this disease is all about. It was very refreshing that Dr. Schafer stayed around for quite awhile and was available to talk to people about individual issues. We had many contributors set up with information about local resources of interest to most. If you would like to see photos from our event, go to facebook.com, you must join-but it’s free, and search HOPE 4 MS.

Thank you to everyone who selflessly volunteered to help make this event possible!

Beth is currently in negotiations to bring us an adaptive yoga program! We will have something soon to help us stretch & get in shape through one of the most effective means available for those stiff, tight muscles. We are also finalizing plans for our next meeting so stay tuned!

BE WELL
