Brainstorming is a good thing…
Our meeting on Saturday April 14th was a comfortable gathering and everyone just discussed a variety of issues that came up spontaneously. The major emphasis revolved around a lady who has MS that brought her daughter who is her concerned, loving, caregiver. She was so looking for information to help her understand MS and how to best understand and help her mother. This was a subject that unified the group to support, inform and hopefully pass on some practical information.
This conversation brought to light the issue of caregivers and the very important role they play in MS support. Those of us who have MS reinforced the idea that our helpers are invaluable and also have needs of their own relating to their involvement. For sometime now, Mike Solzman has wanted to have a caregivers group so we have decided to quit talking about it and just do it. Beginning with our next meeting May 5th, we will have a breakout group for caregivers in another room where they can discuss just about anything they want to.
Once again, we had a tricky brainteaser to solve…If you were in Hawaii and dropped a bowling ball in a bucket of water which is 45 degrees F, and dropped another ball of the same weight, mass, and size in a bucket at 30 degrees F, both of them at the same time, which ball would hit the bottom of the bucket first? Same question, but the location is in Canada?........We got several different answers but only one correct one…upon close inspection you see that the second bucket had no water in it so the ball would hit it’s bottom first! Once again, David O’Connor came in with the correct answer and won a $25 gift certificate to Home Depot. This is David’s third win so I think we need to really put out an effort to beat David don’t you?
Our next meeting will be on Saturday, May 5th, one week after the MS Society is bringing a speaker to town so we are still deciding on our agenda but will keep you posted. Redding Christian Fellowship Church will be having a huge yard sale that morning but will leave some parking spaces open for us. Hope to see you there and don’t forget to bring your caregiver.
