Helpful Options & Positive Energy 4 those affected by Multiple Sclerosis

February 2, 2008 Meeting Newsletter

The weather was blustery but several folks braved it anyway.

Our meeting began with a condensed round table discussion while we waited for a screen to arrive. We went through introductions and a brief MS history for each person and as usual every person had a different story to tell. One could say that we all represent a different color in the same rainbow. The topics varied so much that it is difficult to even summarize the discussions. It was mentioned that many people do check out our website and it would be a good idea to get our our forum/chat room going to give us a venue for discussion. Stay tuned for that update!

Michelle Keating was here and spoke to us primarily about her experience at the Heuga Center in Colorado. She said it was one of the most enlightening MS programs she has ever attended. For information about the CAN DO Program see http://www.heuga.org and check their programs. It is based on a whole body/mind approach offering a very personalized approach to well being. Scholarships are available and can also be researched at the site. Again, one of the key themes is exercise, exercise, exercise! Focus on finding that perfect place between over and under doing it to achieve a cardiovascular work out, strength building and stretching. The benefits are essential to maintaining a quality life for everyone with MS. Along with good nutrition and a healthy, positive attitude we lay a good solid foundation for ourselves.

Michelle also shared with us her experience on the MS Foundation’s Cruise for a Cause last year in Alaska. It sounded fantastic. MSF does a cruise every year and this year it will be to the Caribbean in March. I think there is still room for anyone wanting to thaw out in the crystal waters down south. http://msfacts.org/programs_cruise.php

Thank you Michelle Keating and Karen Musso for another inspiring program.

Our next meeting will be March 1st.

Be well,
Patricia & Robyn
